I am trying to remember the name of a game i used to play as a kid. It was on the NES system and it was a side scrolling game based in a carnival / circus. You used magic to do certain things. I never got that far into the game because it was young and wasnt very good at it

Was it circus capers? That took place in a circus and in a few other areas, with some mini games like fire jumping & one with a bear. But I don’t think there’s magic in that, you used bricks and soccer balls and stuff as weapons. Main character was Timmy?
