Does anyone know? Drum Kits and the Nintendo Wii – For use with Guitar Hero?

Does anyone know if and how I can connect an electronic drum kit to my Nintendo Wii for use with Guitar Hero.
I don’t like the look of the kit that comes with Guitar Hero and I wanted a nice stand alone electric kit anyway that i can connect to my laptop via USB for recording.

I know that the Wii has USB ports… I don’t want to have to buy the Guitar Hero Drum kit as well as the Yamaha kit i want either. Is there anyway to just buy the game with the Guitar controller and use my own electronic drum kit? MIDI to USB or USB to USB? etc…
Answering your add-on question, no. The game doesn’t recognise any ‘real’ drum kits directly, it only uses the GH:WT drum kit. It can’t even use the Rock Band drum kit.
It can handle a MIDI drum kit, but you have to use the ‘brain’ that’s in the GH:WT kit to convert between MIDI and what the game expects.
